Little Blessings For Autism
Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder of learning caused by inflammation while the brain develops the insulating layer of nerves called the myelin sheath. If the brain becomes inflamed during these early developmental years, the inflammation disrupts the brain’s ability to effectively develop myelin (the protective coating around the nerves); which in turn, disrupts the ability of the child to learn.
It also causes environmental hypersensitization. If myelin is damaged or underdeveloped (as is the case for children with Autism), brain areas that require strong signals end up receiving weak signals. The result? Brain areas that need to filter and interpret complex environmental stimuli (sound, touch, social interaction) become easily overwhelmed, which then surface as emotional meltdowns, unreciprocated affection, and delayed language.
Nonverbal Autism, also known as nonspeaking autism, is a form of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that affects a person’s ability to use spoken language as their primary means of communication. The primary symptom is the inability to speak clearly or without interference. People with nonverbal autism may have limited or no spoken language, and may also experience challenges with nonverbal communication.

Autism is not a language barrier. It’s a different language.
